Hardware Configuration

Vector 4 Series

The Vector 4 series (1982–1984) was Vector Graphic’s flagship dual-processor microcomputer line. It combined a Zilog Z80B 8-bit CPU with an Intel 8088 (or 8086 16-bit CPU in this model), allowing seamless execution of both 8-bit CP/M and 16-bit CP/M-86 / MS-DOS software. Models ranged from the entry-level 4/10 (floppy only) to the high-end 4/60 (36 MB Winchester). A soft-sectored “4-S” variant was also offered. The Vector 4/8086 (Vector Graphic SX/5000) is a rare, undocumented high-end late Vector 4 model with the more powerful 8086 CPU and 768 KB of RAM.
